How is Colocation Server Perfect for Small and Medium Businesses?

Businesses today need an online presence for smooth operations. A robust online presence boosts brand awareness and increases sales. All this is only possible with security, bandwidth, and high-speed internet.

What is Colocation

One of the best options for hosting is colocation. You put your hardware and other equipment in the third-party data center. You rent their space to house your servers. Power and internet connections are their responsibilities, not yours.

Also, they are responsible for physical security. For example, colocation protects from theft. Also, they make backup plans for natural disasters like floods and hurricanes.

Colocation data centers also arrange cooling systems to protect your hardware from overheating. It includes redundant HVAC systems and chiller configurations. The server is the property of the client.

How Colocation Helps Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

The progress of technology has introduced a lot of new ways to set up the IT infrastructure of a small business. So many small and medium-sized companies prefer colocation services for many reasons.  Here are some of those great reasons:

Colocation Offers Enhanced Network & Cloud Connectivity Options

Increasing demand for colocation has made health a competitive market in the world. So, vendors are trying to improve their services to attract as many customers as possible.

So, consumers have a lot of options, and they can choose the one whose rate is the best. Moreover, users can use many carriers at once with blended bandwidth services. That ensures 100% network availability.

Colocation Offers Distributed Cost for Space & Equipment

Scaling is no longer an issue. Businesses can scale their economy with multi-tenant data center colocation. The multi-tenant data center colocation helps many companies to scale up their economies. Customers do not have to maintain their facilities. Also, they get to share the cost of space & equipment of infrastructure. This leads to making things affordable for even small and medium-sized businesses.

They can use better infrastructure, expert-level data center operators, and strategic locations. Colocation has helped many small companies successfully establish data center footprints. Many have done it even in the areas where real estate is expensive.

Colocation Offers Uptime Consistency

The cost of downtime per minute is high for struggling businesses. It is not low for established businesses either. It makes business continuity a challenge. Small and medium enterprises often depend on the online market for sales. So, downtime may shut them down and lead to heavy economic loss. Uptime consistency includes power, network, and cooling infrastructure.

Many companies have no offline income source. Professional server colocation data centers with better SLA are best for them. Pros are power, network, and cooling infrastructure. These are the main components of uptime consistency.

Colocation Offers Powerful Security Features

Of course, small and medium companies have much lower budgets than big businesses. But their security needs are equal. Even one small cybercrime can destroy the little credibility they have. So colocation helps with reliable and multi-layered security for affordable prices. Some examples are video recording, restricted security procedures, and 24-hour technical support.

This includes virtual security as well as physical security as well. For example, they protect data centers from natural disasters like floods and hurricanes. You also need to protect them from thieves. This is not so easy for small and medium-sized businesses due to budget. Colocation can help them make everything safe without disturbing your budget.

Colocation Offers Scalability

Colocation data centers offer higher levels of scalability. Small businesses can't meet such levels of scalability on their own. Colocation gives the incredible capability to expand the core businesses. They make it very simple, easy, and straightforward to scale.

Many people think of Cloud services as the most flexible option. Yet, it is not a very good economic solution in the long run. Businesses that use colocation services enjoy better control and on the cost.

Putting It All Together

Colocation lets you maintain a secure and efficient data center at a reasonable price. This way it helps you expand your small or medium businesses. Many colocation vendors also provide good technical staff for server maintenance. This is helpful for some small and medium businesses. In most cases, they do not have enough budget to build an in-house team for this.
