Dell PowerEdge R210: Specs and Rack Compatibility

What is a Rack Server?

It is a server mounted within a framework that enables multiple servers to be stacked vertically. The standard width of rack servers is 19 inches. However, heights vary to allow different servers to have more or fewer components. The 1U of servers takes up one unit in the server. It roughly consumes 1.75 inches in height. You can have these rack servers in sizes from 1U to 5U.

Dell PowerEdge R210

Three Great Qualities of Dell PowerEdge R210

  • Purposeful Design

PowerEdge R210 is part of the 11th generation PowerEdge portfolio. All servers from this generation are built to boost your experiences. They have put all external ports, LED lights, and power supplies in the same location, which has many benefits. It gives familiar experience, easy deployment, and  easy installation.

Metal hard drive carriers also facilitate the system in many ways. They improve two things which are component access and airflow across the server. To make monitoring and troubleshooting easy for you, design gives an LED display on the front of the server. Company has designed the server to fulfill the needs of diverse IT environments with a short chassis. You can deploy it flexibly anywhere, even the space-constrained environments.

  • Energy-Optimized Technology

Second greatest quality is the use of energy smart design. The design ensures the best airflow direction, keeps the server cool, and also reduces noise. It does so with the help of low 250-watt power supply, highly efficient fans, and logical component layout of the internal components. Hence, you get a server with the  smallest power footprint in the 11th generation PowerEdge server portfolio.
  • Simplified Systems Management

Dell offers the comprehensive and enterprise class manageability into 1-socket space. Credit goes to advanced embedded systems management capabilities of the Lifecycle controller. Company delivers the Lifecycle Controller as part of the optional iDRAC Express or iDRAC Enterprise in the PowerEdge R210.

Another task of the Lifecycle controller is to make admin tasks easy. It performs a set of tasks for example, system deployment, hardware configuration and system updates. It uses a single interface known as Unified Server Configurator (USC) to do all of this.

Thus, you do not have to use and maintain a lot of pieces of disparate CD/DVD media.
